damYour hosts at Providence Barn, Julian and Sarah and their family, fell in love with the whole property when they first set eyes on it in 2012. Julian and Sarah were initially attracted to the lush, native vineyards and rolling hills of the Yarra Valley. The tranquil native garden setting with its quaint brick paths and native birdlife had an instant appeal!

The main house and the Barn are constructed with natural limestone and recycled hardwood timber. The original owner was a master craftsman who took many years to lovingly construct the whole property.

Julian and Sarah had previously spent 6 years restoring an 1820’s stone and Cob cottage in Devon, England to its original glory and after moving to Australia they continued to follow their passion for restoring a further 4 character homes in Victoria. At that time Providence Barn was a sad, dilapidated garage and mechanical workshop but the potential for transforming this building into guest accomodation was evident. In 2014 they began the task of refurbishing the barn with loving detail inspired by their experiences in house restoration so that they could share there love of rustic architecture and nature with their guests. After 2 and a half years of hard graft our vision was realised and we opened our doors to the public in December 2016. There were many miracles of provision on this journey towards the realisation of this dream. There is no doubt that Providence Barn is a very special place.

Our prayer is that our guests will experience the peace and serenity of staying at Providence Barn and leave rejuvenated!
